Climate Change affects us all. Tell Tim you want a say.

Right now New Zealand’s Climate Change Minister, Tim Groser, is deciding what we’re going to bring to the table when world leaders come together in Paris at the end of the year to agree on a global response to climate change.

Climate change will affect us all, so we should all have a say.  This decision is too important to leave up to the National Government, whose current policies are putting us on track to increase emissions by 50%.

Use the form below to tell Tim you want a say on New Zealand’s emission reduction target, and that the Government should consult meaningfully with affected communities – that’s all of us!

Example Message to Tim:

Dear Minister Groser,

I know that right now you’re deciding on an emissions reductions target for New Zealand that you’ll take to the Paris climate talks in December.

How the Government chooses to respond to climate change and our target around reducing emissions will affect all New Zealanders. This decision is about our future. As you have said yourself, addressing climate change is the great challenge of our age.

I’m emailing to tell you that I want to have my say on how we should respond to climate change, and what our emissions reduction target should be.

I ask you to make sure that the public is given the opportunity to submit our views on what our target should be. It’s important that this isn’t simply an online submission process, but that the government goes out into communities in order for us to be heard.

Since you carried out public consultations around our climate target in 2009, the situation has only become more urgent and the decision around a new target more important.

Let the public have a say on our future, carry out meaningful public consultations on our emissions reductions target, and listen to our voice on climate.
