Can you believe someone wants to build a new fossil fuel power plant in 2016?
Say no to a new fossil fuel power station now
We’re supposed to be reducing our use of fossil fuels and moving towards more clean, renewable energy. But Nova Energy is proposing to build a new gas-burning power plant in south Waikato. Some of that gas will likely be from fracking, and burning it will contribute to climate change.
We’re calling on the Minister for the Environment to step in. This gas-burning power plant would affect the whole country, so everyone should get a say.
Building new power plants that will burn gas for decades to come will make it harder to do what’s right to stop climate change. We should be investing in more windfarms, solar power, and other types of clean energy, not gas.
Tell the Minister for the Environment to “call in” Nova’s resource consent application so all New Zealanders get a say.
