I had always been that small-town girl with a loud voice, big dreams, and too many opinions. And I still am today, but these attributes along with my passions for the environment, social justice, and politics all worked in my favor when it came to Youth Parliament.

On Monday 18th July 2016 I was lucky enough to be on a flight from my home town to Wellington where I was met at the airport and taken to Bowen House, Green Party Headquarters. 

My experience as a Youth MP representing Kevin Hague of the New Zealand Green Party was very unique, and in short, couldn’t have been any better. 

Youth Parliament is an opportunity for young New Zealanders to experience what it’s like to be an MP, and it's a great way to bring the voice of young people to Parliament. Over the past 6 months, the Green Party has been lucky to have fourteen incredible young people representing our MPs. This week, our Youth MPs are in Wellington to debate legislation, give speeches and ask the hard questions in the House.
