  • Support our educators so in the future they have the knowledge and resources available to offer alternatives to seclusion rooms. Don’t forget adults like Ashley Peacock in long term seclusion too.

  • Most important would be the need to Train special needs teachers in this area but not on programs created by the ministry.
Get ideas from ones who know best . THE PARENTS.

Restructure the curriculum to specifically cater for the educational needs of special needs children.
think outside of the ‘box’ when it comes to educating our children

  • Kids with learning needs deserve proper support and funding. Our current schooling system can not provide this because it is underfunded, funding is inaccessible to both parents and teachers due to the mountains of paper work and changing thresholds of eligibility for funding. To many children with special learning needs are being over looked because their particular learning need is not recognize or fits into a specific funding box. The Geneva Declaration states “The Right to an Education: a fundamental and universal right. Education must be accessible to all children”. The New Zealand National Government is not upholding this fundamental right of all children . The Government must fund education so it is accessible to ALL children.

Children shouldn't be locked away in solitary confinement seclusion rooms because schools don't have the funding or training to properly support students. Kids with learning needs deserve proper support and funding. Our current schooling system is not providing this. The Government can fund education to ensure our children get the support they need.
