Support Not Seclusion Rooms

Children shouldn't be locked away in solitary confinement seclusion rooms because schools don't have the funding or training to properly support students. Kids with learning needs deserve proper support and funding. Our current schooling system is not providing this. The Government can fund education to ensure our children get the support they need.

We request that there is more funding and training for learning support in schools

Exactly the answer! Plus smaller class sizes to decrease sensory overload on the students and proper monitoring of fewer students so triggers can be detected and responded to earlier.

For my whole family, myself and partner who have experienced seclusion and other disadvantages from this during our schooling years. And for one little person who is currently experiencing it.

If we are serious about inclusion then it is critical that teachers and support staff are well trained and the individual needs of children are met. Any less is immoral. All people need the chance to achieve as well as they are capable of. When we do this we will find that our whole society improves as well. It has been well proven that the smaller the gap between how people’s needs are met the the better everyone does.

im signing because I’m sick of my autistic peers and others in the education system getting pushed to the side lines, ignored, and locked up, secluded away from their mainstream peers because the education system is not putting funding in the right places. autistics have behaviours when our basic autistic needs are not getting fully met, such as gaining access to much needed communication assistance technology such as text to speech generating devices. the just report release inquiry report doesnt even mention increasing the access to AAC for autistic students, time to wake up MoE, WE HAVE A RIGHT TO SPEAK through whatever means such as electronic text to speech devices, stop neglecting, stop violating our rights, stop abusing autistics by withholding AAC to autistic students.
